O leafy branch,

Standing in your nobility

O Leafy Branch was commissioned by the Women’s Sacred Music Project as part of their 2010 celebration of the feast day of Hildegard of Bingen.  The text is an English translation of a poem written by Hildegard entitled O frondens Virga. Hildegard composed a chant with her Latin poem, which I have interspersed into this work.
